    Airfix models release the Fairey Rotodyne in 1/72 scale in there Vintage range. Arguably one of the most visually spectacular products of the post-war British aviation industry, thanks to its jet powered main rotor tips which operated during vertical take-off and landing. The distinctive Fairey Rotodyne was a revolutionary large gyroplane which held great promise for worldwide inter-city medium air travel.

  • Airfix models release the 1:72 scale SR-N1 Hovercraft makes its introduction to the Vintage Classic range. The SR-N1 Hovercraft is an experimental machine with space for the pilot and his observer, although on demonstration it has carried 20 fully equipped soldiers. It is powered by a 450 hp Alvis Leonides engine, giving a normal hovering height of 13 inches and a maximum speed of about 25 knots. It weights nearly 4 tons and is 30 feet and 24-feet wide.

  • De Havilland Beaver

    Airfix models release the De Havilland Beaver in 1/72 scale in there Vintage Classic range. The Beaver was also used by many air arms across the world, including Britain's Army Air Corps, who operated 46 of these magnificent aircraft. They were used to great effect as reconnaissance/intelligence gathering aircraft in Northern Ireland during the 1970s and 80s.

  • Beagle Basset 206

    Airfix models release the RAF Beagle Basset 206 IN 1/72 scale in there Vintage Classic range. The handsome Beagle B.206 Basset was a twin-engined light executive transport and military communications aircraft built by the Beagle Aircraft Company. Powered by two Rolls-Royce/Continental GIO-470 engines, these six cylinder, horizontally opposed powerplants gave the aircraft a maximum speed of around 220mph and a range of 1,650 miles, with the spacious cabin of the Basset able to carry up to eight people in some comfort.

  • Westland Whirlwind Helicopter HAS-22

    Airfix models release the RN Westland Whirlwind Helicopter HAS.22 in there Vintage range. Having successfully evaluated a number of aircraft, a licence agreement was signed to allow Westland Aircraft based at Yeovil to produce the helicopter for British service. Named the Whirlwind, the first British build prototype flew in August 1953, with the type going on to enter Royal Navy service in July 1954.

A particularly handsome looking aeroplane, the Handley Page Jetstream was a sleek twin engined turboprop aircraft designed as a regional airliner and specifically to satisfy the potentially lucrative US market. The Jetstream offered great promise, especially when an order for 20 aircraft was placed, even before the design drawings had been completed.

  • Airfix release the British WW2 Bofors 40mm Gun & Tractor in there Vintage range. Designed in 1930 by the Swedish Bofors Company, this gun was adopted by some 18 countries and became the standard light anti aircraft weapon with the British forces. The Morris CS8 15-cwt 4x2 General Service Trucks were made in large numbers and they became the backbone of the British Army.

  • Airfix models release the RAF Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR.1 in 1/24 scale. An aircraft which is undoubtedly one of the most significant in the history of aviation, the Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR.1 was developed from the Hawker P.1127 experimental aircraft produced to test the possibilities of V/STOL vectored thrust flight. These aircraft would successfully master the transition from hovering to forward flight and back to the hover,

  • F-80C Shooting Star

    Airfix models release the American F-80C Shooting Star in there vintage range. The F-80C would be used extensively during the Korean War, where the aircraft would equip ten USAAF fighter/fighter bomber squadrons and one reconnaissance unit, but by then, this elegant early jet was already beginning to be outclassed. By the end of its production run, over 1700 Shooting Stars of all variants had been produced.
